GPT Ads · Advertising in ChatGPT
GPT Ads — reach buyers inside ChatGPT, at the moment they decide
ChatGPT now shows sponsored placements under its answers. We set up, run and measure ChatGPT Ads end to end — with conversion tracking wired into HubSpot, so you see leads and revenue, not just clicks.
The channel
What is GPT Ads?
GPT Ads — officially ChatGPT Ads — are sponsored placements inside ChatGPT. OpenAI began testing them in the United States on February 9, 2026, opened a self-serve Ads Manager on May 5, 2026, and has since expanded to more than 60 countries.
Ads appear below ChatGPT’s answer, clearly labeled as sponsored and separate from it. They are matched to what the person is asking about right now — so your business can show up while someone is comparing options, planning a purchase or looking for a provider.
For buyers, ChatGPT has become a research assistant. For advertisers, that means a new moment to be present: not when someone types a keyword, and not while they scroll a feed, but while they think through a decision.
Three rules shape the channel — good news for serious brands
- Answers stay independentAds don’t influence what ChatGPT says, and advertisers can’t shape or rank its responses.
- Privacy by designAdvertisers never see conversations — only aggregated results such as impressions, clicks and conversions.
- Brand-safe placementAds reach adult users on the Free and Go plans, and aren’t shown next to health, mental-health or political conversations.
How it works
How ChatGPT Ads work
The mechanics are different from search and social. Getting them right is what separates a test that burns budget from a channel that brings pipeline.
Context hints, not keywords
Instead of bidding on exact keywords, you describe what you offer, who it’s for and when it helps. The ad system uses these hints, your ad copy and your landing page to judge when your ad is relevant to a conversation.
A relevance-weighted auction
When several ads are eligible, a second-price auction weighs relevance together with bids. A relevant offer with a clear landing page can win placements without paying the highest bid.
Three campaign goals
Views (billed per 1,000 impressions), Clicks (billed per click) and Conversions — optimized toward a purchase, lead or sign-up, and still billed per click.
What you can run today
Sponsored ad card
Brand name, logo, headline, description and image, shown below the answer and linked to your landing page.
Product-feed campaigns
Campaigns built from your product catalog — including a Shopify app for merchants.
Custom audiences
Include, exclude or bid up your customer lists. Inclusion needs at least 25,000 matched users.
Sponsored Agents
After a click, people can chat with a clearly labeled agent for your business, then continue to your site.
From our own account
Inside the GPT Ads Manager
We were accepted into the GPT Ads beta and already run ChatGPT campaigns for clients in the U.S. Client results are under NDA, so here is the platform itself — screenshots from our own account.

A real ad, as people will see it
Our own ad in the Ads Manager preview: logo, headline (up to 50 characters) and description (up to 100). The format is short by design — it has to earn the click in one glance.

Campaign setup
Choose the objective, the locations and the budget. The minimum daily budget is $25 — about $800 a month in media.

Bid guidance
There’s no enforced minimum bid, but the estimator shows whether a bid is competitive. In our account, delivery became realistic at around $3 per click.

Conversion tracking
Create a pixel data source for your website, iOS or Android app, then send purchases, leads and sign-ups back to the platform for reporting and optimization.

Where it fits
GPT Ads next to Google and Meta
Each channel catches the buyer at a different moment. GPT Ads add the one the other two can’t see.
| Google Ads | Meta Ads | GPT Ads | |
|---|---|---|---|
| The moment | Someone types a search | Someone scrolls a feed | Someone asks for advice or a recommendation |
| Signal | Keywords and search terms | Interests and behavior | The context of the conversation |
| Best at | Capturing demand that’s ready to buy | Creating demand | Being part of the decision while options are compared |
| Maturity | Mature, deep benchmarks | Mature, highly automated | New in 2026 — tools and benchmarks still evolving |
GPT Ads don’t replace search or social. They add the conversation where the buyer decides what to search for — and who to call.
Honest fit check
Is GPT Ads right for you?
A new channel is an advantage for some businesses and a distraction for others. Here’s how we see it.
A strong fit
- Considered purchases that buyers research and compare: B2B services, SaaS and software, professional services, high-ticket e-commerce
- Offers with a clear use case — who it’s for and when it helps
- Teams that track conversions, or are ready to — HubSpot users especially
- Brands selling in markets where ChatGPT Ads are live
Not a fit yet
- Offers that depend on health, mental-health or political conversations — ads aren’t shown next to them, and political ads aren’t allowed
- Campaigns that need personalized targeting in the EEA or Switzerland, where ad personalization isn’t available yet
- Advertisers who need a guaranteed CPA or ROAS from day one — the channel is new and benchmarks are still forming
- Products aimed at audiences under 18
Our process
How we run your GPT Ads
The same discipline we bring to Google and Meta: tracking first, then testing, then scaling what turns into revenue.
Tracking first
We install the OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API with deduplication, connect GA4, and link ChatGPT Ads to HubSpot, so every lead lands in your CRM with its source.
Context map & creative
We turn your offers into context hints, headlines, descriptions and images for each use case — and make sure your landing pages are open to OpenAI’s ad crawlers.
Launch & learn
We start on Clicks within OpenAI’s recommended $3–5 CPC range, test angles and audiences, then move proven ad groups to conversion-optimized bidding.
Optimize to revenue
Weekly optimization and reporting in HubSpot: cost per lead, pipeline and closed revenue by campaign — side by side with your Google and Meta results.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Who sees ads in ChatGPT?
Users on ChatGPT’s Free and Go plans, in markets where ads are live. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans are ad-free, and accounts identified as under 18 don’t see ads.
Do ads change ChatGPT’s answers?
No. Ads run on separate systems, appear below the answer and are labeled as sponsored. Advertisers can’t shape, rank or alter what ChatGPT says.
What does it cost?
Our management starts at $1,600 per month. The media budget isn’t included — you pay OpenAI directly. The platform’s minimum daily budget is $25 (about $800 a month), and OpenAI recommends starting CPC bids of $3–5; real costs depend on your category and competition.
How do you target without keywords?
With context hints — short descriptions of what you offer, who it’s for and when it helps — plus your ad copy and landing page. Customer lists of 25,000+ matched users can be used to include, exclude or bid up audiences.
Can we track leads and revenue in HubSpot?
Yes. HubSpot is ChatGPT Ads’ first CRM partner: impressions, clicks, contacts, customers and cost show up in HubSpot. We add the OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API and build reporting that connects ChatGPT leads to deals.
How quickly will we see results?
Click and impression data updates within about 15 minutes, but judging performance takes a learning period. We start on Clicks, read the first weeks of data, then scale what converts. We don’t promise a specific CPA or ROAS — no one honestly can on a channel this new.
Is ChatGPT Ads available in my country?
ChatGPT Ads run in more than 60 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, India and Southeast Asia. In the EEA and Switzerland, ads are matched to the conversation but not personalized.
Should we start with GPT Ads or with Google and Meta?
If you already run Google or Meta profitably, GPT Ads is a test budget on top — a way to reach buyers earlier in their research. If you have no paid channel yet, we usually start with the one where demand already exists and add GPT Ads once tracking is in place.
